Vacation in Spain, Málaga

After we visited the Alhambra, we drove on to Málaga, a port town in the south of Spain. It really was just a stopover on the way to some other destinations, but probably had the best weather of our entire trip! Once we arrived, we rolled down the windows and took a drive to the beach.

This was a strange site, even for someone who, like me, lived by the beach for seven years! The biggest flock of seagulls I have ever seen swooping around a couple of cargo ships at sea:

This beach was a great place to collect some more seashells for Sophie's collection (which includes a Northern Irish beach at this point):

Do you think Sophie was happy to be at the beach?! I think this means that we're going to have to plan a real beach vacation in our future (wink, wink, Ian).

It had rained just before we arrived, which made for a beautiful rainbow:

And of course, Sophie had to get some of her energy out at the playground.

At sunset, we decided to head out to dinner...

...where I had the first of many glasses of Rioja. Mmmmm...

The city still had its Christmas lights up (since Spain really celebrates the day of Three Kings on January 6th). It turned out to be a really lovely little city.

I loved this sculpture:

And finally, after dinner, we rambled along the main street where musicians and other performance artists were out in abundance. We were lucky enough to stumble across a performance artist chatting with some Mormons on their mission...
