Christmas Dinner

We celebrated Christmas with a typical Alsatian dinner and wine. Unfortunately, I was too busy to take any pictures (or put on makeup), but thanks to my mom, we have a few.

I made a choucroute garnie (which is sauerkraut cooked with wine, some spices, and several types of sausages), green bean bundles with bacon, and white asparagus with aioli. It was yummy, if I do say so myself! We also followed the Alsatian custom by starting out with "cremant" (local champagne), drinking Alsatian wine with dinner, and ending with a local pear brandy.

All of us sitting down to dinner:

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson were in charge of dessert, and they brought a typical cake called a "Bouche de Noel."

And an Alsatian bread called "Kugelhopf":

Sophie, as always, thoroughly enjoyed dessert:

We'll be off to Paris tomorrow morning, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to post pictures until Monday, but I'll try!
