Konstanz...the "Little Lake"

As I mentioned in the last post, Sophie referred to the children's pool as the "little lake." (Or in her dialect the "yittle hick"...she's still having problems with l's.) She absolutely loved it, and we had to drag her out of it after over an hour of play.

She started out with some rather mild "swimming." Every once in a while, she would try to put her face in the water:

She soon moved on to more rambunctious play, modeled by some older boys who were playing in the little kids' pool. She called it "One Two Three Go!" We luckily caught the stages of this game on camera.

She started out at the edge of the pool and would count "One Two Three Go!"

She would then run to the center of the pool with her arms up:

And then throw herself into the water:

This was obviously tiring work, so she needed to sit on the bench and rest:

And then it was back into the water for Sophie. I loved this little boy...in addition to the goggles, he was wearing big flippers too.

We also bought a blow-up alligator innertube, which Sophie loved. In fact, she would go around saying, "I wuv him."

We finally decided we needed to go do some sightseeing, so we got on the bus to head back to town. Within five minutes of being on the bus, Sophie had passed out. This is the only time I can remember since she was a small baby that she's fallen asleep in her stroller.

Note about the arrival of the students: Everyone arrived on time, except for one student who will arrive on Friday. They were all tired, but were troopers as we had to walk through the rain to get to dinner last night. Today is their first day of orientation. And Sophie loves having new "friends" around!
