Konstanz...the City
After our fun at the lake, we decided to do a little sightseeing in the city of Konstanz. Ian found a handy walking tour guide online that we followed (for about half of the tour). Sophie slept for the first 45 minutes or so, so Ian and I got to stop wherever we wanted to!

The walking tour then took us past this beautifully simply church. It's called the Dreifaltigkeitskirche, or Trinity Church. It is the last visible part of the Augustinian Monastery founded in 1268. The monastery itself was dissolved in 1802 and the rest of it was pulled down some time after.
Konstanz is on the Swiss-German border. Here's a picture of the border crossing:
The Schnetztor Gateway was built in the 14th century (but it looked like it had been restored or rebuilt in the not-too-far past).
The Hus Museum is located just inside the tower on a quaint little street. Jan Hus was a Prague reformer (who was a big influence for Martin Luther) who was executed by burning at the stake along with Hieronymus of Prague during the Council of Konstanz in 1415.

We never really figured out what this building was, but we liked it, and you can see how the buildings lean in the second picture.

Here's a view of their cathedral. Sophie was upset to see that the cathedral wasn't pink like the one in Strasbourg. We had to explain that this was a different cathedral. It was pretty, but must have been destroyed in WWII because the stone was very new looking.
Here is Sophie posing on the steps of the cathedral:
As I mentioned, the Rhine flows out of Lake Konstanz. The bridge in the background is about where the river starts.
