Northern Ireland--Northern Coast and Giants' Causeway (Part 1)

After our tiring day in Belfast, Ian, Sophie and I decided to take a road trip to the northern coast of Northern Ireland, where the Giants' Causeway is. We packed a picnic lunch and headed north! This day was much easier driving-wise for me, as most of the roads were highways. We stopped in Ballycastle at a little park by the sea for our picnic. It was a beautiful little seaside town.

We let Sophie run around a little since she had been in the car so long:

A random, crumbling tower along the coastal drive:

We finally arrived at the Giants' Causeway, where we hiked along a ridge and then descended to the rock formations. The ridge hike had quite the spectacular views.

A view of where we hiked from:

It was dangerous up there...

There was a staircase leading down to the trails to the actual Giant's Causeway, and Sophie and I went down first:

This is the same picture as the previous one...without the zoom!

We had to do some real hiking where the trail was washed out.

The V-shaped trail is the one we took.

A view of the touristy area from the trail:

The "Organ Pipes," one of the natural formations in the area:

The ridge above was where we had walked before descending. It was worth it, even with the stroller!

Next time, I'll post some pictures of the rest of the rock formations, which are pretty incredible and deserve a post all to themselves!
