Paris--Day 4--Our Last Day

On our last day in Paris, Ian led the whole group of us on a walking tour. We started at the Arc de Triomphe. I had Sophie pose in front in a "I will triumph" moment. I didn't realize that no one would get the semi-obscure Meg Ryan reference (in French Kiss), so only I thought I was cute. I actually have a picture of myself doing this 10 years ago too...

Sophie enjoyed the walk especially since she got to walk and play with the big kids. Here are her pals, Jenny and Katie, swinging her between them:

Here's the whole group (minus myself) in front of the Opera:

After the Opera, we headed off to a memorial to the Battle of Austerlitz. This memorial is made up of melted down cannons from the battle.

A view of the Hôtel de Ville (or city hall) in Paris:

A view of Notre Dame in an alley:

This is the back side of Notre Dame taken from the park right behind the cathedral:

After lunch, we had a little bit of time to kill before heading off to the train station to head home. Some of us went to an ice cream shop that was recommended to us by some other students. (I had two scoops: dark chocolate and blood orange. Yummy!) Here is Sophie hangin' with some of the students that came with us and some others we ran into along the way:

And finally, the train station, Gare de l'Est. It's a pretty nice building for a train station.

And a clock in the train station that Ian liked:

And now I am caught up on Paris, finally! I have lots more pictures to post of the last couple of weeks, so I'll try to get those up this week.
