So, Ian made fun of me yesterday because I mentioned the "small church" at the end of our street in my last post. It's not exactly small by American standards, but he did agree that it is small by European standards. What I meant was that it wasn't a cathedral by any means. It's still very large. (Does that make you happier about my commentary, Ian?)
Anyways, we did take a walk yesterday that included seeing the main cathedral here in Strasbourg, called Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg. It's a very impressive gothic cathedral, and is much bigger than the church down the street from us.

It's located only about 5-10 minutes from our apartment, and is in a very nice, but touristy, square:

After the cathedral, we walked a little further, and found ourselves in the Place Kléber. Here's a picture of the statue of the square's namesake (born in Strasbourg, fought in the French Revolutionary War and died in Cairo in 1800 as a hero):

Sophie was captivated by the fountain in the square, and spent some time wandering and exploring:

This was only about half of our walk, but I'll save some for tomorrow!
